Sweet Dreams

LOCATION: Mt Lebanon, PA

PROJECT INFO: This is a study in multiplication. We were tasked with turning the second floor from two bedrooms and one full bath to three bedrooms and two full baths. So we leveraged unused attic space around the existing rooms, giving us the perfect opportunity to add a bedroom and a bathroom. To incorporate natural lighting and headspace, we created a large dormer window out of the front side of the gable roof for the primary suite, and were able to utilize existing windows for the other two bedrooms. We added a large bathroom with soaking tub, shower, and long vanity, using encaustic tile on the floor and soapstone for the countertop. The primary suite now includes built-in closet cabinetry for the walk-in closet, a TV/display wall with custom shelving and built-in shelf to hide the laundry shoot. This renovation allowed the whole family to sleep on the same floor without doing an addition - together at last.
